I have been crafting things for as long as I can remember. As early as elementary school I was making and selling things to my friends. I have also been an entrepreneur from a very young age. It was probably around the age of 10 that I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer. I remember asking my mom to teach me how to sew. She handed me the manual to the army green 100lb sewing machine from Montgomery Ward and said "Figure it out". I did, and started sewing all sorts of odds and ends.
A few years later we took a family trip to Lancaster, PA. It was there I fell in love with the Amish Quilts. The entrepreneur in me saw what they were making on those quilts. As my fashion career did not seem to be going anywhere, I decided to pursue quilting instead. I finished my first quilt at the age of 13. It was a 9 patch quilt from whatever bits of fabric I could get my hands on.
I did not do a whole lot of quilting after that but a lot of sewing. It was not till I was married and pregnant with my first child that my passion was reignited. My limited knowledge of rather primitive more muted quilts was suddenly opened up to a world of color and creativity. I have learned so much in such a small amount of time. I am not sure yet where my quilting journey is taking me, but for now I want to share that passion and creativity with others.
I live in the small town or Taneytown in MD with my husband Dale, or 4 kids, Aiden, Paisley, Quinn and Bryce, lots of chickens, a crazy corgi Nash, and cat named Sherbert.
I am excited to have teaching as part of my quilting journey. This is such a wonderful art form and creative outlet that I feel so many could benefit from and enjoy. Be sure to see my upcoming classes section for when and where you can take classes with me. More exciting things are to come so stay tuned!
One thing I have learned about creative people, if they do one craft they most likely do at least 10 more! While I very much enjoy quilting I also knit, crochet, spin wool, weave Appalachian Rib Baskets and have even dabbled a little in wood turning.
